McLaurin was able to use the same classroom, library and cafeteria as white students but when it came down to classroom time McLaurin wasnt able to be IN the same classroom, he wa s put outside with his own desk and had to be taught from a distance where it was a struggle for him to learn. The restrictions that came with being admitted into the university was that he was able to be on campus but he was assigned to sit in a row of classroom seats reserved for African American students, had to sit at an assigned table in the library, and, while he was allowed to eat in the cafeteria, he had a designated table., according to an article called McLaurin v. Oklahoma State Regents. Supreme Court Cases: The Dynamic Court on EBCOShost. As a result, these restrictions and limitations he had on campus affected his ability to interact with any other students which resulted in affecting his school performance. To add on, in a matter of time his appeal went to the supreme court which they had a unanimous decision reversing the state law, they reasoned that under the fourteenth amendment equal protection clause he should have the same opportunities and receive the same tre atment just as student of other races. Furthermore, not only were African Americans affected by school segregation but so were Asian Pacific American such as the Chinese. Around the time 1890, the Mississippi constitution had no idea of schooling Chinese children since there wasnt many children around because of the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act so in result any other race that was not defined as white or Caucasian would belong to the colored race. Over time, Chinese started making their way into the U.S to escape the violence they suffered from their homeland, since more Chinese families were coming to the U.S it meant that their children would eventually have to go to into school despite the school segregation. Even with school segregation going on around them, it was known that white schools were better funded so of course they would want to put their kids into better funded education institutions, so their children were sent to white schools with no problems. Until around 1924, 2 young Chinese girls named Berda and Marth a Lum were not allowed to attend their first day of school at a local white school because they were not members of the white or Caucasian race. Which led to their father Gong Lum a well successful and respected grocery store owner in their community, demand that school board allow his daughter, Martha Lum attend the white school, to help support his case a local law firm was able to help with a pro bono act. According to an EBCOShost article named Gong Lum v. Rice, their reasoning behind not allowing his children was It was widely believed that due to the earlier lack of Chinese women in the Delta, some Chinese men had fathered children with colored women. If children of mixed Chinese and black blood attended white schools, they would have, in effect, desegregated the public schools. If Martha wanted to attend a school in general she couldve been granted attendance at a colored school or either attend a private school but not at the expense of the state. Overall, the case didnt mak e it to where Martha was allowed to attend a white school and the Lums had lost the case in 1927, as stated by an article called How a Chinese Familys 1927 Lawsuit Set a Precedent for School Segregation on Time.com, the court had made a unanimous ruling that Mississippi can regulate their schools however they like. To add on, another case that dealt with a Chicano family who had suffered with the issue of school segregation was the Mendez v. Westminster, which happened around the 1940s. This case holds a huge importance to help ending school segregation because if it wasnt for this specific case, there wouldnt have been any support to ending school segregation. In the 1946, this case was to help end the segregation of Mexican American children in the southern California, around the time the term separate but equal was still around which made it difficult for children of other races to be admitted into white schools because of the doctrine that supported segregation in the U.S and because they were a part of the Mexican heritage but the lawsuit that Mendez had ordered against it was about to abolish the term in schools. The Mendez v. Westminster case was about the children of Gonzolo Mendez, Mendez tried to enroll his kids into an orange county school in 1943 but the school had denied his child ren entry solely because of their ethnicity, but the same day his kids had been denied his niece and nephew had been admitted because their skin was fairer. The school district responded to Mendez by saying that Mexican Americans needed their own separate schools because of cultural and language differences, of course this had angered Mendez and he was encouraged to fight against this. The Mendez family had created an organization with four other families that were facing with similar issues with their children dealing with discrimination and try to go against the federal court to defeat school segregation. Gonzolo Mendez was the lead defendant and had sued four school districts including superintendents, on be half of his children and other Mexican American students that they should have the benefit as white children to attend any white because any Mexican American child was legally white. According to NPS.gov and article called U.S Court House Post Office had stated, The Mendez lawyer filed the lawsuit at the U.S. Court for the Southern District of California, where they could argue that the State of California violated the childrens right to the Constitutions Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. The U.S. Constitution states that no State can deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. The Mendez lawyer had legitimate solid reasons as to why separating children from other children because of their race was causing harm to them and could be harmful to them in the long term because it would affect the kids self-esteem, their image on how to t reat one another and their achievement. In an article called How segregation Hurts Kids on Daily.jstor.org, it discusses the affects on separating kids affects all kids no matter the race, Hispanic, white, African American, Chinese, Native American etc. The article expresses that not having a diverse environment for children it does affect their performance in school and how they score higher or lower during test. For example, they state, white students scores tended to be lower in schools with fewer non-white students. black, white, and Hispanic students with higher percentages of whites in their peer groups tended to have relatively high scores. All in all, the Mendez lawsuit did last five days, and the five-day trail had the hugest impact of anyone who was facing discrimination, two months after the trail Governor Earl Warren, signed a bill that had made California to be the first to outlaw all public school segregation. To end, this isnt one specific school segregation case that involves two separate group but one group that had suffered with tremendous experiences with the federal government and still does to this day. Native Americans have been dealing with segregation, discrimination, assimilation, etc. for years because of their race. Boarding schools was a way to native Americans children out of their hometown to a rural area where there was no way for the children to get into contact with anyone but the other children around and the supervisors of the boarding schools.

An outcast is someone who is rejected by society or a social group, somebody who isn t what most would call normal. In the book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, a few people considered outcasts were Huck, Pap, and Jim. Society did not agree with how these three characters acted and presented themselves, which was fine by them because they didn t exactly agree with society anyways. To begin, one of the main outcasts in this book was Huck himself. His mother passed away and his Pap was an alcoholic, Yes, he s got a father, but you can t never find him these days. Mandela.. The Icon of Power and Tolerance Nelson Mandela is one of the most prominent and the most inspiring character of our time. This character became the inspiration for a complete school that teaches the meanings of the wonderful humanitarian implications and instills the supreme values and concepts of civilization. Within the adversity that surrounded, he still had the courage and determination, along with the struggle and resistance for liberation. He was a school of life. Rom Brafman, the author of â€Å"SUCCEEDING WHEN YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO FAIL, The 6 Principals of High Achievement†, discussed some researches about how people act when they are facing adversities and hardship. He pointed out to some traits, tunneling, unwavering commitment, meaning making, and the importance of satellite figure. When we read the books that documented Mandela ’s life, and specially his book â€Å"A Long Walk to Freedom†, we can simply find him as â€Å"tunneler†, a figure of unwavering commitment, who made meaning and understood the importance of satellite figure. Jodi Arias Free Essays

Travis Alexander, a 30-year-old businessman, well-known motivational speaker and devout Mormon. With a single gunshot to the right brow and being stabbed 29 times, Travis was then left for dead in a stand up shower in his bathroom for several days. When Arias was questioned by the police she stated that she had not seen Travis since April of 2008. According to Arias, the dysfunction of their relationship reached its climax when she killed Alexander in self-defense after he became enraged following a day of sex and a gun accident, forcing her to fght for her life. This was the third different account of how Alexander’s death had occurred that Arias had offered police, which both prosecutors and observers felt severely damaged Arias’ credibility as a witness, a sentiment later echoed by Jurors upon the completion of the guilt phase. Arias also mention they had split up, but Alexander would still invite Arias to his house for sex. Investigators found a camera at the crime scene which had damaging evidence time stamped on photos left on the cameras hard drive, detectives found Alexander’s clothes, sheets, and pillow case in the washer. Also, found the washing machine was the cameras memory card. With positive DNA samples and hair matching Jodi Arias at the crime scene Arias was arrested for the murder of Travis Alexander. In September 2008, Arias was given a public defender and she then pleaded not guilty at her arraignment. In October 2008 the Maricopa County Attorneys office filed a notice of intent to seek the death penalty against Arias. The Maricopa County Superior court then accused Jodi Arias of First-degree murder â€Å"in an especially cruel, heinous or depraved manner. † This began one of the biggest criminal proceedings since Casey Anthony. Arias told Judge Sherry Stephens she wanted to represent herself. The request was granted but Arias Public defenders Kirk Nurmi and Victoria Washington stayed on the case. Defense attorney Kirk Nurmi argued Jodi Arias acted in self- defense after their relationship became sexual and physically abusive (Arizona Central, 2013). Arias defense attorneys requested that the death penalty be aken off as a punishment due to the defense she did not plan to kill Travis Alexander it was an act of self-defense. This motion was denied. Nurmi tried to enter in electronic letters into evidence to back his case, these letters supposedly nad proot ot Travis Alexander allegedly admitting being a pedophile. This evidence was dismissed due to it being forged. This delayed the trial for three weeks. In January 2011 Victoria Washington filed a motion to withdraw from the Arias’ case. With the motion being granted, Jennifer Willmott was then assigned to the case. Willmott questioned Arias n the stand for 19 days and handled the witnesses for the defense which ended up with Willmott discrediting Janeen DeMarte a clinical psychologist a state witness (Arizona Central, 2013). In January 2013, opening arguments began. Deputy County Attorney Juan Martinez, a prosecutor known for his gamesmanship, asked the Jury to sentence Jodi Arias to death. In his opening statements Jan. 2, 2013, he told the Jury that Arias first stabbed Travis Alexander, then slit his throat and put a bullet in his head after he was already dead. Martinez painted a picture of an attractive but ealous woman who murdered a successful man who was trying to break ties with her. His conduct during the trial came under scrutiny of defense attorneys when he was shown in the media posing for pictures with trial spectators outside the courthouse (Arizona Central, 2013). During the trial Juan Martinez tries to geta jurisdictional rule passed against Arias’ use of text messages during the case. The rule was not passed due to lack of evidence and Freedom of speech. Ryan Burns a former love interest of Jodi Arias testified on June 5, 2008 Arias was several hours late arriving home, she told him that she got lost and stopped to rest. Arias had dyed her hair and had cuts on her hands. Arias mentioned she had cut them while working at Margaritaville Resturant, she had broken a glass and cut her finger. They settled down to watch a film together – and soon got physical, he told the court at some point we were talking and we kissed,’ he said. ‘Every time we started kissing it got a little more escalated (Warren, 2013). At some point she was kissing my neck, I was kissing hers, but our clothes never came off. Burns said they resumed their kissing later that night when she climbed on top of him, but they stopped as he did not want her to egret the visit due to her Mormon beliefs about sex. Burns, who is also a Mormon, was unaware that Just 24 hours earlier, she had been posing provocatively for photographs later found on her murdered ex-boyfriend’s camera. On the stand the prosecutor asked about Arias strength, Burns replied, ‘she is a lot strong than she looks† (Warren, 2013). Penalty phase began on May 16, 2013, when prosecutors called Alexander’s family members to offer victim impact statements, in an effort to convince the Jury that Arias’ crime merited a death sentence. On May 21, 2013, Arias offered an allocution, during which she pleaded for a life sentence. Arias cknowledged that her plea for life was a reversal of remarks she made to a TV reporter shortly after her conviction, when she said she preferred the death penalty. â€Å"Each time I said that, I meant it, but I lacked perspective,† the former Arias said. â€Å"Until very recently, I could not imagine standing before you and asking you to give me life. She said she changed her mind to avoid bringing more pain to members of her family, who were in the courtroom. At one point, she held up a white T-shirt with the word â€Å"survivor† written across it, telling the Jurors that she would sell the clothing and donate all proceeds to victims of domestic abuse. She also said she would donate her hair to Locks of Love while in prison, and had already done so three times while in Jail. That evening, in a Joint Jailhouse interview with The Arizona Republic, snow, Arias said sne didn’t know whether the Jury would come back witn lite or death. Whatever they come back with I will have to deal with it, I have no other choice. † Regarding the verdict she said â€Å"It felt like a huge sense of unreality, I felt betrayed, actually, by the Jury. CNN reported the vot e was 8 to 4 in favor of death (Shoichet, 2013). After the mistrial was declared and the Jury discharged, the jury foreman stated that he believed Arias was mentally abused, but that had not been enough to excuse her crime. He also said, â€Å"l think 18 days hurt her, I think she was not a good witness. We’re charged with presuming innocence, right? ICT in Central Bank of Australia

Question: Discuss about the ICT in Central Bank of Australia. Answer: Today, I have started my research on the role of ICT in managing the data from the Central Bank (of Australia). As, I belong to the IT background; I am excited to learn more about the role and impact of ICT in running the Central Bank of Australia. I wonder that how it will manage the data as in today, an era the data is booming at a faster rate. To start off, I have no idea about the working of this Bank, and its relation to the IT field. I have done research on the Banking industry of Australia, and I have found that the central Bank is one of the famous Banks in the field of providing monetary policies, and handling, and analyzing the financial data. I know that the success of any industry is depending on managing the financial system, and this is not possible without ICT. I have found that the ICT plays a vital role in restricting the central Bank. I get shocked, when I came to know that the transaction of billion dollars can be performed in a second, but it is possible only with the help of Information Technology. I know that the customer satisfaction is the key for making the business at number one position, but I dont know the concept or the role of ICT in achieving the customer satisfaction (Jones, 2014). I have found that it collects the data from customer expectations and current services which are given to the customers, and place the data in the database, and compare the data, in order to meet the customer needs, and moreover, I have found that it compares the data from customer perspectives, and the actual perception to deliver the right product to the customers. I have found in a research that e-Banking system of central Banks divided into two factors, one is ICT, and on another is Banking factors. The use of internet, security and other privacy concerns are handled by the It, and the Banking culture and internet Banking push are handled by the central Bank. I have learned that this Bank provides High-tech facility to the customers i.e., the servi ces given to the customers is dependent on the automated system. I have also learned the concept of mobile Banking, as the user can send money form one account to another, they can pay a bill by the help of mobile Banking (Tamura, 2015). I come to know that ICT term is not limited only to the terms linked handling the information of the Bank, financial data, doing transactions, but it has also brought the concept of CRM, i.e. Customer Relationship Management which is a useful source in proving a better customer attraction, and better customer retention. I have observed that the central Bank is one of the famous Banks in Australia, because it focuses on these points: easy to use, customer trust, better resources, and developing a relationship with the customer.
